TIP FOR THE DAY

bought a drinking bottle for my sins to be washed away
can you ever look at me the same again
painting the room with your voiceless thoughts
trying to erase what you heard
and wishing you never asked the question

want to run into the sunset
but i have nothing left in me

LOST 600G!!!!!!!

ok so i didn't stick to my "no food after noon" decision... feeling very guilty i must admit!! BUT... I did get onto the scale this morning and I LOST 600g!!!! wooohooo! I now its not much, but for the last 6 months my weight has just been climbing and climbing. so this is the most exciting thing that has happened to me in ages :)

I am so excited now, must just not get carried away and stuff my face today. Need to try and get Duromine from my doctor again caz that really works. They gave me a 2 week supply before and I lost 3 kgs with no exercise added.

I need to wait till the end of the month so that I can go see a dietitician to help with my vegetarian lifestyle. My cholesterol is on 7, so i definitely need to stay away from meat. it runs in the family and my dad had 2 heart attacks already. need to stop smoking but i am so paranoid that if i stop then i will pick up more weight. but i have decided that i will smoke what i have left and then once its finished then i will quit for my health. my colleague is sending me the Allan Car pdf so that is apparently the best way to stop. check it out if you are interested:

today i had :

oatmeal (no sugar, no milk) + sprinkled cinnamon
500ml water

FIRST DAY OF JOURNEY

the only thing i have eaten today was:

oatmeal (no sugar, no milk)
1 slice wholewheat with white cheese
1 apple

i also had 2ltr of water so far and its now only 2:30pm!!!!

i have adopted the Buddhist eating habits as I am very interested in following it as my new lifestyle. i never eat after 12 am (midday), and will be doing my first 3 day fast this weekend from Fri - Sun. i prefer to start my fasting on the weekend as being at work might cause problems for me. so this weekend all I will be doing is drinking water and swimming so that i don't exhaust myself.

today is my first day of not eating after noon and I will be reading for as long as i can concentrate and then go sleep so that the time goes by faster!!!

till tomorrow then....

FASTING FROM WIKI - EDUCATE YOURSELF

Glucose is the body's primary fuel source and is essential for the brain's functioning. When denied glucose for more than 4–8 hours, the body turns to the liver for glycogen, a storage form of glucose, to be used for fuel. A process called glycogenolysisconverts glycogen into a usable form of fuel. At this point, the body also uses small amounts of protein to supplement this fuel. This fuel will last for up to 12 hours before the body needs to turn to glycogen stored in muscles, lasting for a few more days. If glucose is still denied at this point, muscle wasting is prevented by temporarily switching to fat as the fuel source, meaning fat is converted into ketone through catabolism. Ketones, while not sugars, can be used by the brain as a fuel source as long as glucose is denied.

Research suggests there are major health benefits to caloric restriction. Benefits include reduced risks of cancercardiovascular diseasesdiabetes, insulin resistance, immune disorders, and more generally, the slowing of the aging process, and the potential to increase maximum life span. According to the US National Academy of Sciences, other health benefits include stress resistance, increased insulin sensitivity, reduced morbidity, and increased life span. "Alternate-day fasting may be an alternative to prolonged diet restriction for increasing the life span".

Adherence to Greek Orthodox fasting periods contributes to an improvement in the blood lipid profile, including a decrease in total and LDL cholesterol, and a decrease in the LDL to HDLcholesterol ratio. A statistically insignificant reduction in HDL cholesterol was also observed. These results suggest a possible positive impact on the obesity levels of individuals who adhere to these fasting periods.
